James Ladd, co-founder of the contemporary Rifles program, founded Green Jackets Cheerleading, on June 5, 2005. Green Jackets Cheerleading was formed in support of the Winnipeg Rifles Junior Football Program and in honour of the Royal Green Jackets Regiment. The origins of the name Green Jackets, like the name of the Winnipeg Rifles, comes from a military history and tradition. GJC's name is derived from the Royal Green Jackets Regiment, established 1966. Their motto "Swift and Bold" exemplifies the necessary qualities for success in both military and athletic pursuits: self-discipline, respect, mutual trust, and loyalty.
